the customer isn't always right

The customer isn't always right
Sometimes stealing through the dead of night
The customer drapes his own limbs in jewels
From your glass display case and swaps in dried stools
Of uncertain animal origin
Sometimes the customer causes slightly less chagrin
By being unconscionably rude about a mistake
Or simply being more demanding than a normal person can take
Such as asking for a full refund and a five hundred dollar gift certificate
As compensation for a shirt they themselves bought and should have known wouldn't fit
Which furthermore they tore at both armpits and left a stain on
Making of their own embarrassment a rayon drum to beat a cruel refrain on
There are other times when the customer is literally in need of factual correction
Such as when repeating certain claims about voter fraud in an election
That cannot be verified by any statistics we possess
Yet to say so may cause the customer extreme distress
Customers are people just like you and me
And often wrong, as anyone who deals with them will see.
