When I Met My Muse At the Hotel Bar

she said baby where have you been so long i've been waiting forever boo
just sitting alone with these empty drink things kind of hating you
she was tired and a little aphasic she couldn't remember what a glass was called
she looked so sad i could have wept i could have begged and crawled
she said baby what have you done to yourself you used to be so bright
that was my muse she was beautiful she was tired it was late at night
you can only sing so much in the dark she said your voice gets hoarse
you can only wait so long for the call for the ghost as a matter of course
i was sorry but i wasn't sorry enough i left my muse at the bar
i went out into the hungering night and drove around in my car
