i wrote a lot of really good poems

I wrote a lot of really good poems probably
and one kind of dumb one that got famous
now that poem is the one for which everyone knows me
while all of the rest of them languish

now when I search for my name plus the word book
with my favorite search engine I find
ten thousand hits for that stupid poem look
I know that it's silly to mind

but I spent sixteen months on my first book of poems
and fifteen long years on the next one
I worked really hard on things nobody owns
is it wrong that I feel like a vexed one

like okay I'm glad you're all pettily glad
that some stranger is petty like you
but think of the hours of fun to be had
reading some of my other poems too
