song of not doing the laundry when i should do laundry

for a long time it was hot
and now that it's not
I can't get used to going outside

i should gather my rags
and ignore all the tags
and head to the laundry room with pride

but inertia and doubt
keep me inside not out
though the journey is less than a block

my clothes growing musty
my heart getting dusty
as the seconds sweep by on the clock
