horses I have taken

sometimes I lead a horse to water that has dried up into mud
sometimes a horse just disappears just like he wasn't there
were you a figment of my mind horse where can I take you bud
if you were never real I guess I can take you anywhere

horses I have taken to roads cracked and various
your bodies are huge but your ears are proportionally tiny
if I were to tell you all my thoughts you would think it was hilarious
about horses glossy-maned with eyes so shiny

horses I have taken and horses I am going to take
past the windows with their bars and the yards with their fences
dance me a horse my new friends I don't care how thin or fake
in the future we will be bare of all pretenses
