there's a mountain I know
it's black and too low
and unlike most mountains
it moves in leaps and bountans
it was once in Kentucky
or someplace like that
now it looms in Las Vegas
o'er a guy in a hat
it's not a real mountain and
maybe it never was
see it rise from the rosy sand
like a C. P. Snow omnibus

come give me your grant dollars
sprinkle gold to these darting words
like crumbs to swift swallers
