they think for example we are too fond of photographing ourselves
and the human capacity for observation has been in arrest
ever since the kodak brownie hit the shelves
having never lived outside the backlit cage
of late stage capitalism I can personally attest
that I have not seen an unmediated object since November 1986
when my mother decided a polaroid camera was cheaper than glasses
I threw all my books in the dumpster and failed my classes
and cast in my lot with the pixels and camera tricks
