in the world of sad stories the saddest is
when someone is accused of being a plagiarist
sometimes I take a browse through this library of babel
and wonder how on earth is anybody able
to keep from saying something that has been said just the same
and yet how easily we drench the plagiarist in blame

dear plagiarist I feel your pain. I too have felt the struggle
of watching wordsmith wizards play and feeling like a muggle
and so I've opened up the books that were my favorite reading
and traced their words on my own page, my soul with solace feeding

all the songs that stayed with you and lifted you the while
are now just evidence against you in this witch hunt trial
dear so-called plagiarist you'll always have my sympathies
of all the saddest stories out there the saddest ones are these
