Why didn't you invite me? I tried so hard
to be indespensible I gave quarts of my life's blood
so that when the time came you'd come get me bud
bearing no excuses but an invitation card
Why didn't you try harder to discover my poems?
Drone after drone passed overhead and no one noticed or thought to ask
As I sat patiently but conspicuously absorbed in my task
I lay in the soft dry grass outside each of my homes
Coaxing the satellites to map my face
match it to my address, and send that Aiken Taylor Award
along with six FBI agents to liberate my poetry hoard
That no one has done so yet is a disgrace
Forever in your helicopter circling loud
come land beside me and do what you ought
My hard drives fill to bursting with the poems you haven't bought
Come lift me up above and toward the crowd
