with a beautiful phosphoescent glow
now i have and it's nothing like the dream of my desire
i say to the trees and the grass please don't go
as they turn to black carbon and fly around ashen
I try to explain the concept of artistic passion
from the peaks of the andes to the ocean's murky floor
the problem with the earth is it doesn't understand metaphor
now firefighting helicoptors drop water that turns into steam
this is not what I meant when I kindled my dream
the problem with dreams is they always come true
but far too literally for me and you
