song of thin skin
Nov. 20th, 2019 03:15 pmThe artist's skin must be extra thin
For the artist must always be willing to let
The world and all its clamours in
But such a life is hard, you bet
I've always been quite sensitive
To slings and arrows of the critical
But much more than I get, I give
When faced with haters big or litical
If high or low you dare to diss me
Or even publicly disdain
Upon my bottom half to kiss me
You're asking for a world of pain
Though paper-thin my skin may be
My weaponry is quite diverse
And should you have the gall to name me
You'll call down calling out and worse
The artist's skin must welcome every
Drop and dust mote that may fall
But if a scrap of shade you send me
You'll wish you'd not been born at all
For the artist must always be willing to let
The world and all its clamours in
But such a life is hard, you bet
I've always been quite sensitive
To slings and arrows of the critical
But much more than I get, I give
When faced with haters big or litical
If high or low you dare to diss me
Or even publicly disdain
Upon my bottom half to kiss me
You're asking for a world of pain
Though paper-thin my skin may be
My weaponry is quite diverse
And should you have the gall to name me
You'll call down calling out and worse
The artist's skin must welcome every
Drop and dust mote that may fall
But if a scrap of shade you send me
You'll wish you'd not been born at all
